gehörte zu den zentralen Skulpturen, die das künstlerische Stadtbild sowie seine protopyramidale Identität mitbestimmten.
Bruce Nauman schuf hier ein betonide Grundform, die im Herzen der westfälischen Wissenschaftsstadt (ganz dicht an der Physik) eine eigenartig nutzlose in den Boden abfallende quadratische Grundfläche festlegte. Hier entstand eine pyramidale Grundform, deren gehärtete Bodenständigkeit eine Raumtiefe manifest werden ließ, die Dimensionen verschieben konnte, wenn man sich auch ohne zwei Weizenbier am Feierabend mal zu einem Skulpturenbad unter freien Himmel dort niederließ!
Auf diesen vier abgesenkten Dreiecken aus Beton lernten Kinder Laufrad fahren, ließen Bengels den lenkbaren ferngesteuerten Superporsche ihre Runden drehen oder küssten kunstgeschichtsaffine Pärchen einander das erste Mal.
Wie schade, daß sie gehen mußte - diese ganz formidable Skulptur, deren Bedeutung sich für mich mit den Jahren ganz langsam verschob....wohin auch immer. Bruce - dein Beton wird mir fehlen.

Children learned to ride balance bikes on these four sunken concrete triangles, let the rascals do their laps in the steerable, remote-controlled Super Porsches or kissed couples with an interest in art history for the first time.
What a shame that she had to go - this very formidable sculpture, whose meaning for me slowly shifted over the years ... wherever. Bruce - I will miss your concrete.
